Why I Created This Workshop

We spend countless hours preparing for weddings – choosing venues, planning ceremonies, curating the perfect day. Yet most of us spend almost no time preparing for the actual marriage, for the ordinary Tuesdays that follow, for the years of showing up for each other.

This disparity has always struck me: relationships are one of the most significant parts of our lives, yet we were never taught the skills to navigate them well.

We learn math, science, history. But relating? Understanding our patterns? Holding space for ourselves and others? These are treated as things we should somehow just know.

And I have seen how the cost of this gap shows up everywhere – in the conflicts we can’t resolve, in the distance that grows when we don’t understand why a simple question lands so heavily, in the quiet ache of feeling unseen even by those closest to us.

This workshop came from a belief: if we don’t understand and hold space for ourselves, how can we do that for others?

The Couples Session: A Shared Language

What moved me most in the private couples session was watching two people discover a shared language for their inner worlds.

When one partner asks what is seemingly a simple question – “Why isn’t this done yet?” could trigger such a strong reaction in the other, something shifted. It wasn’t just about the undone task. It was about the layers beneath it: the fear of not being good enough, the old wound of feeling criticized, the part that braced for disappointment.

When we understand why at the deepest layers, compassion becomes possible.

There was also a tender moment when both partners shared their definitions of a good relationship. They spoke of seeing all parts of each other – not just the polished versions, but the messy, uncertain parts too. They spoke of witnessing moments together, of becoming better versions of themselves through the relationship.

It reminded me that relationships aren’t about being perfect. They’re about being seen.

The Singles Session: Understanding Our Lenses Everywhere

The group session with singles opened up something different but equally powerful. We explored not just romantic relationships, but the patterns that show up in friendships, family dynamics, and workplace conflicts.

Understanding our lenses – why we get activated, what our triggers are protecting – gives us a roadmap for every relationship in our lives.

One participant shared how recognizing their “peacemaker” part helped them understand why they kept avoiding necessary conversations at work.

Another realized their anxious attachment showed up differently with friends than in dating for e.g being that “responsible” friend that plans and takes care of everything for everyone, and that awareness alone created space for change.

The beauty of this work is that it applies universally. When we understand ourselves better, we navigate all our relationships more effectively while keeping the emotional connection intact.

What This Work Is Really About

At its core, this workshop is about a starting point to develop deeper  awareness – of our patterns, our parts, our automatic responses. It’s about recognizing that our reactions often have less to do with the present moment and more to do with what we learned to do long ago to feel safe.

And when we understand that – both in ourselves and in others – we can respond with more compassion, more curiosity and build more courage to stay present even when things feel hard. Because we have empowered ourselves with more tools to be able to go through it while feeling safer.

Our relationships mirror the quality of our awareness. And I believe that by doing this inner work, we don’t just improve our relationships – we transform the quality of our entire lives intentionally.

Thank you to everyone who has shown up for this work. It’s vulnerable, it’s tender, and it matters more than we often realize 🤍🌿
