Today I had my first 1-1 session w someone who is a CXO of a pretty big company.

Some things stood out for me (some screenshots above) –

1) Their discipline on time management:

Our session was scheduled for 730am. They wanted to start the day early and in the right frame of mind.

2) The amount of time and effort spent on their preparation work:

I usually give people some light pre-work before we meet to ensure that we can maximize our time tgt.

Before I could give anything, they already asked me what they could prepare. I said some light pointers on X,Y,Z.

Prior to the session, they sent me a 16 page document explaining context, assumptions, details and ended with clear growth areas that they wanna seek support on.

Preparation and that ‘never get complacent’ mindset to grow even though most would consider them to already be killing it in their career.

3) Their growth mindset:

During the session, I also picked up on how they will attend courses and send out surveys to get feedback to their teams so they can continuously improve.

That and of course, seeking out coaching from someone much younger than them also signifies their growth mindedness and willingness to learn from different places.

Not letting ego get in the way of their growth is probably one of the biggest factors that got them to where they are today and no doubt, even more great things to come 🙌🔥
