“I sat on them for a long time because I lacked the confidence… and was terrified of failing.”
Many people hesitate to start 1:1 coaching because they’ve already tried standard corporate platforms, read self-help books, or simply doubted that a coach could truly help.
Real, sustainable growth doesn’t come from quick fixes or surface-level tips that only treat the symptoms—it comes from doing the internal work first and pairing it with a clear, phased roadmap.
In this edition of Coaching Fundamentals, one of my long-term clients Joy shares their raw, unfiltered experience of making the leap, what finally made things click, and why they chose to continue the journey.
1. Before working with Natalie, how would you have described what was going on for you—and had you already tried anything to manage or fix it?
“Before working with Natalie, I was really struggling with direction in both my career and life. I was unhappy in my job, constantly questioning what I wanted to do next and what actually mattered to me. I had a few ideas, but I sat on them for a long time because I lacked the confidence to execute them and was terrified of failing. I even tried coaching through my company’s sponsored platform, but it didn’t really help.”
2. Right before you reached out, was there a specific moment, or did things build up gradually?
“It was a gradual build-up. I knew I didn’t like my job and couldn’t see myself doing it forever, but I felt completely stuck and didn’t know how to get out. What finally pushed me to reach out was seeing how Natalie built her own path, alongside a friend (who had attended one of Nat’s workshops) speaking so highly of their conversation.”
3. Did you consider anything else at the time (e.g., therapy, another coach, books/courses, or waiting it out)? What made 1:1 coaching with Natalie feel like the right call?
“I didn’t really consider other options because I felt like I had already exhausted them. 1:1 coaching with Natalie felt right because she truly understood what I needed. She offered deep insights into why I was feeling the way I was, while giving me very practical next steps to pull myself out of the rut. On top of that, having a clear, structured plan gave me the confidence to actually give it a try.”

4. If a friend in a similar spot asked why they should choose Natalie over another coach, a therapist, or just muscling through it alone, what would you tell them?
“Natalie has walked the exact path I wanted to walk, so she brings real-world experience to the table. She has a knack for spotting blind spots and focuses on internal growth first rather than just patching up surface-level symptoms, which makes the progress truly sustainable. Plus, she’s empathetic, easy to talk to, and because she’s done the work herself, she genuinely relates to what you’re going through.”
5. You’ve renewed for multiple coaching packages. What keeps you continuing the work rather than feeling ‘done’ after one stretch?
“Natalie intuitively identifies what I need at every different phase of my growth and adapts how we work together. I know what I want to achieve, but as someone who struggles to structure my thoughts, her ability to build a clear timeline and framework is invaluable. Above all, the work actually produces results which makes continuing with her an easy decision.”
