Coaching Stories

Not all progress looks like doing more.

Sometimes it’s learning to pause, to let go and to trust that things can still fall into place even when they don’t go exactly as planned.

Limin’s journey reminded me that growth isn’t about striving harder. It’s about unlearning the parts of ourselves that believe we’re only worthy when we’re achieving.

1. How Limin’s Journey Began

When Limin and I first chatted to understand whether my coaching program was suitable for her, she was searching for clarity in both her career and her life. She wanted to understand what truly mattered to her, what direction to take next, and how to quiet the noise of external expectations.

When we deep dived into her story, we saw that she had always been the achiever – driven, capable, and deeply responsible.

But beneath that was a constant voice pushing her to do more, be more, achieve more. She often said it felt like no matter how much she accomplished, it never felt enough.

Through our sessions, we started to uncover the patterns underneath that pressure – the self-criticism, the fear of failure, and the need to control everything so nothing could go wrong.

As she later reflected,

“Natalie has helped me cut out the noise and identify what’s really important to me. Through the sessions, we uncovered my self-limiting beliefs that were keeping me stuck. With the frameworks in place, I’ve been slowly evolving my mindset. I’ve seen changes in how I react to difficult situations and gained more courage to pursue what matters to me.”

2. Rewriting Her Inner Dialogue

Our early work was about awareness – learning to notice her inner critic without letting it take over.

She began recognizing when she was being too hard on herself and learned to replace that self-judgment with patience and compassion.

That shift changed everything.

As she softened the voice within, she began to enjoy her work more – not from needing to prove herself, but from finding flow in what she did well.

Her creative side re-emerged. She started cooking more, sharing recipes, and approaching fitness not as punishment but as a joyful expression of care for her body.

She told me once, “I’ve learned to have fun again. To try new things without worrying if I’ll fail.”

3. Building Courage and Conviction

The more she trusted herself, the clearer her direction became.

She started pursuing her interests with a deeper sense of meaning – from her personal training certification to exploring how she could redefine what fitness means for certain groups of people, especially those who often feel left out or intimidated by it.

That clarity also extended into her relationships.

She began showing up more authentically, speaking her truth without fear and giving herself permission to rest and receive instead of constantly giving.

Through this process, her confidence became quieter but stronger.

She no longer needed everything to be perfect to feel at peace. In fact recently as she started her personal fitness trainer journey, she shared with me this: “I am very proud of myself for being better at handling my thoughts when I make mistakes.”

I am so happy and proud that Limin moves through life with more ease, conviction, and alignment today. She still sets big goals, but the energy behind them feels different – it feels lighter, truer, and more anchored in purpose.

Her story is a reminder that when it is possible to learn how to quiet the critic within by re-writing our sub-conscious programming, life begins to feels more expansive: Work feels more fulfilling, relationships deepen, and the path ahead starts to feel not just right but significantly more aligned🌿
